What is astrology?
The other day, being curious about what others think of astrology, I asked some acquaintances, people who do not know what I am up to professionally:
What is astrology?
I was not particularly excited by the answers – but they were not surprising either:
"Really interesting. You can see a lot!"
"Isn´t this some kind of fortunetelling nonsense?"
"Science of the planets?"
"Superstitious esoterical blabla!"
"Star signs, ascendent and so on. I am a virgo. But I am pure chaos."
Those are everything but dream answers for an astrologer. No need to say that I don´t vue astrology as “some kind of fortunetelling nonsense” nor as “superstition”. And it is not science of the planets either. That would be astronomy.
It is not even esoteric in the sense of the word, meaning something that only is accessible to an inner circle of initiated.
Well, it is indeed that thing with the star sings. And the ascendent shows the grade of the sign that was rising in the east at the exact time of birth.
Apart from that astrology is incredibly interesting, it is an endless field of studies and it is of immense value for every human who is trying to understand where he comes from and what makes him tick.
That my virgo acquaintance, the one mentioned in the example above, told me, she was “pure chaos”, even though a virgo is supposed to be order and tidiness, has different reasons.
First of all: Yes, in any book about star signs virgo will be characterized as the accountant, as the nitpicker. Virgo is the fun killer of the zodiac. She spoils the party. And I sort of agree. It is true. The archetype of virgo is everything but fun (even though virgo has an opposite side to herself too).

But a birth chart shows 12 houses, 12 star signs and ten planets being distributed in the zodiac. One of them is the sun.
Even if the sun finds himself in virgo, the nine remaining planets might be standing in fire signs, like Leo and Sagittarius, or in water signs, like Scorpio and Cancer, or in airy signs, like Libra and Aquittarius.
My acquaintance´s sun (the one in virgo) stands in the 11th house in square to a pluto-uranus conjunction, she has a moon-mars-opposition (moon in aquittarius).
Even someone with limited knowledge of astrology will understand what that means and will understand, probably without even seeing the rest of the birth chart, that she has a strong need for independence.
Individuality is a main theme of hers, and that her sun is in a state of constant insecurity concerning her beliefs (that often turn from illusions into desillusions, thus being followed by recurring collapses of beliefs and the way she leads her life, which obviously makes this life everything else but stable and … -- orderly.
But I want to come back to my opinion about the statements from above:
Astrology is not esoteric.
Astrology is not fortunetelling.
Astrology is not superstition.
Astrology is not nonsense ;)
So what IS astrology? And what DOES astrology?
CAN I predict the future by looking into a birth chart? CAN I tell how you love, live and feel?
In a way: yes.
Still I do not vue astrology as a pure tool to predict the future. Even though I believe in destiny I do not think that every single decision we make, has been already decided before we say “yes” or “no”.
But certain things will happen. For sure. Even if we say “no”. Astrology then can tell you that an event is going to happen, astrology can tell you the shape of an upcoming event, but the way you live this event, or, in other words, the content of this event, is up to you.
Let me give you an example:
Uranus transiting your IC (Imum Coeli, representing your emotions, your mother, your home) promises times of inner change that will most likely go hand in hand with outer change (like removal, leaving the country).
You can be willing and fulfill this change yourself (e.g. move homes) or you can refuse. The only problem is, that in case you refuse, change will still happen.
Uranus does not take No for an answer.
Uranus will force you into the Yes. There might be a natural disaster, destroying your home, there might be some external force, urging you to leave the house.
Because Uranus means change. But the way the change happens, depends on you. Thus, if Uranus is activated or activates one of your personal planets, an astrologist will in most cases advice you to embrace change in order to not being forced into change.

Astrological cosultation can help you understand basic patterns of your life that might be caused by prenatal or early childhood experiences. It helps you underestand, why you find yourself in recurring unhealthy or distructive relationships and situations.
Astrological medicine even helps to understand disease pattern and clinical pictures. This deeper understanding might enable you to stop the kind of supression often leading into illness. School medicine can save lives. But often a symptom that has been treated will find another way to manefest itself physically.
Astrology is an excellent tool to understand what is behind. Behind the façade, behind the obvious, behind one´s behaviour, behind all those innumerable accidents, that are, as our birth chart shows us, no accidents at all.
They are destiny.
Not every one wants to look into this deep mirror that can explain his own biography and reveals his unconsciousness, his parents´ struggles as well as his struggles with his parents´, prenatal occurrences, karma.
And this is understandable. Not always the situation asks us to go back into the past or to dive deep into our soul.
Time might not yet be ripe or there are certain events, disturbing our balance, or certain acute problems that ask for a different approach. Sometimes one just needs a quick answer, a hint, an advice concerning a single issue.
In those situations astrology can help to find the appropriate path or to make a decision.
The questions asked might be recurring and similar and most of the time they are about love, finance, talents, profession and vocation, but in the end there are as many answers as there are humans (and birth charts).
Because astrology deals with this singularity it offers the possibility to find the individual problem and the individual path for every person.
I can help you reveal patterns that shape your life, as well as discover unconscious, suppressed, prenatal or infantile causes that still affect you, your attitude, your behaviour and your emotions and that make you recreate well known situations or unsolved problems.
Astrology has been around for thousands of years. The first steps of the art of astrology we know and use today in Western civilization, were taken around 500 bC.
Astrology started by merely observing the stars in the sky and by drawing conclusions from the position of the stars to events taking place on earth.
It was brought forward by the antic Greecs who vued a human´s destiny as predetermined.
The foundation of my astrological knowledge therefore lies in the experience of hundreds of years.
This experience is the source of all knowledge about the meaning of planets, their position in the houses and signs and their constellations amongst each others.
This system has never been changed, but it has been constantly complemented, new schools and teachers have added their insights, studies and research, new planets were discovered and integrated by some astrologists (or dismissed by others).
The horscope of a moment (a birth chart as well as a horary) not only tells us, what is going on at this exact moment, but it holds the meaning and the (possible) development of this moment.
The horoscope is the seed that contains the future plant with all its leaves and blossoms.
- understanding the source of conflicts and problems in order to find constructive ways to deal with those issues (what happened during prenatal or early childhood phases and how can you integrate these events in your life)
- helping to recognize the meaning behind blow of fate, thus helping to integrate a painful experience instead of fighting against its effects
- identifying your potential, thus helping you make decisions concerning your profession.
- recognizing phases of development.
- pointing out that so called weaknesses are challenges that want to be lived – not shadows that need to be rejected or suppressed
My astrological consultation …
- helps with timing surgery or important appointments, contracts and events
- answers questions of all sort
